The Newton family live in their comfortable house, but there appears to be something missing. This"gap" is full of a small puppy, that walks in their own home and their own lifestyles. Beethoven, because he could be termed, grows into a giant of a dog... that a St Bernard. The vet, doctor Varnick comes with a secret and horrible side-line, which requires plenty of dogs for experiments. Beethoven is really on the terrible doctor's list.
