Dolls
Dolls takes puppeteering because its motif the kind practiced in Bunraku doll theatre performances -- launching each element of the film with a narrative given by the puppets and their masters, which relates to the activity provided by the characters that are live. Chief one of those stories is that the narrative of Matsumoto (Hidetoshi Nishijima) and Sawako (Miho Kanno), a couple whose relationship is all going to be broken apart by the former parents, who have insisted their son participate in an arranged marriage to his boss' daughter. He initially insists, causing the Sawako to be committed to a hospital. If he leaves his bride at the altar to save Sawako he understands that she is so incapable of caring for herself she needs to be tied with a rope. Inextricably bound, both wander falling the others along the way who have missed love for more pleasures: money, fame, power.
