Free State of Jones
Back in 1863, Mississippi farmer Newt Knight Acts as a medic for the Army. Opposed to slavery, Knight would help the injured than struggle with the Union. Newt returns home to Jones County to protect his loved ones after his nephew dies in conflict but is branded an outlaw deserter. He finds refuge with a band of runaway slaves hiding out from the swamps. Forging an alliance with all the slaves as well as farmers, Knight contributes.
