Geek, and You Shall Find
After attending a local comic book convention, three filmmakers are so inspired by the cosplayers' stories that they decide to delve deeper into geek culture. Attending other conventions across the country and speaking with legendary creators such as Kevin Eastman, Stan Lee, and George R. R. Martin, the trio not only begins to discover why people are drawn to superheroes and superhero stories, but also how being a geek could help them live fuller, more meaningful lives. Geek, and You Shall Find recounts the origins of iconic stories such as Superman, Star Wars, Game of Thrones, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In discussing the origins of these characters and their settings, the authors illustrate how frequently they have been inspired by real-world social problems. Importantly, by continuing to interview fans who have been inspired by these ideas, this video demonstrates how superheroes may also tackle these social challenges.
