Malena
On the day in 1940 which Italy enters the war, a few things occur to the Renato: he has his first bike, and he gets his first appearance in Malèna. She's a gorgeous, silent outsider who is transferred to be with her husband. He goes off to war, leaving also the sharp tongues of these women along with the lustful eyes of these men with her. During the next few years, as Renato climbs toward manhood, he sees Malèna establish and suffer her mettle. He sees the aftereffects of slander on her connection with her daddy, her loneliness, when Nico is reported dead, then grief, her poverty and hunt for work, and final humiliations. Can Renato learn guts from Malèna and stand up for her?
