Royal Opera House: The Sleeping Beauty
The Sleeping Beauty holds a special location in The Royal Ballet's repertory. It was the ballet with which the Firm reopened the Royal Music hall in 1946 after The Second World War, its very first production at its new home in Covent Yard. Margot Fonteyn danced the duty of the stunning Princess Aurora in the sneak preview, with Robert Helpmann as Prince Florimund. Sixty years later on, in 2006, the original 1946 staging was revitalized already Supervisor of The Royal Dancing Monica Mason as well as Christopher Newton, returning Oliver Messel's fantastic styles and also flashing outfits to the stage.
