The Cement Garden
Julie, Jack, Sue, and Tom's mother begins to suffer from an unidentified ailment after her husband's death. Knowing she'll have to go to the hospital, she sets up a bank account for the kids so they can be financially self-sufficient and escape being put into the authorities' care. She, too, dies, and Julie and Jack (the older, adolescent children) decide to bury her body in the basement so that they can have complete control over their home. Soon, Tom began dressed as a girl, while Sue became more reclusive, confiding only in her diary; in the meantime, Jack and Julie began to develop feelings for one another. However, when Derek becomes increasingly suspicious of Jack, Julie's new boyfriend, Derek, threatens to expose the family's numerous dark secrets.
