The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny
A new production of Kurt Weill's "Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny" by the Catalan group La Fura dels Baus will be shown at the Teatro Real de Madrid. It was written by Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht in the 1930s. It's about capitalism and how a society that doesn't have money is a crime. They tell the story of Mahagonny, a city that is lost in the middle of a desert and run by three thugs. In Mahagonny, food and sex are the most important things.
