The Tree
There's nothing more unspectacular than collecting water, or is there? It's really a easy undertaking, but it takes almost 45 minutes, even in what feels like real time: the person walks through the narrow streets, dog in tow, stopping to get glass bottles at the bright doorways, before heading down to the darkened river. A trek overland A row and finally the bottles are full of It sunrise. The night was silent, save to the sound of these bottles clinking together and the thumping of the firearms in the length, which has to be why the person met no one, why everything is as still as a painting, such as what the boy sees out of this window at the very beginning, a village plucked from a mythic. Considering all the tracking shots, it'd be tempting to predict this real life, however the quality of the light is a bit more off-kilter, all saturated greens, reds and yellows. Even the scene is decorated just like a stage-set.
