Wasted Talent
A gritty documentary in which filmmaker Steve Stanulis and producer Noel Ashman jointly investigate the temptations and hardships that many young celebrities face on their path to recognition, Wasted Talent is a must-see. It tells the life of actor Lillo Brancato, who was once hailed as the "next Robert De Niro" after playing in the films A Bronx Tale (De Niro's directorial debut), Renaissance Man, Crimson Tide, and the legendary television series The Sopranos, among other projects. While trying to escape the underworld of Hollywood, Brancato ended up becoming a drug addict, which resulted in his incarceration for the death of a New York City police officer, which occurred during a drug expedition that turned disastrously bad. Despite the fact that Brancato was exonerated of the murder accusation, he was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison for attempted burglary. He was ultimately able to get clean and sober while serving his sentence in prison, and is now trying to rebuild his reputation in the fickle world of entertainment.
