The humor, which occurs in a false desert town near the U.S.-Mexico boundary, centers around the intertwining daily lifestyles of neighbors Bud Buckwald along with Ernesto Gonzales. Bud, a father of three, is still now just a Border Patrol agent who seems threatened. Living across the street is father of four, who's pleased to be making it in America, an industrious Mexican immigrant and Ernesto. Since Bud and Ernesto's paths begin to cross, their families eventually become bound with friendship, love and conflict.
