You make the same amount of money as you labor and live on it. Jung-cheol has always had difficulty with this straightforward notion. He dreams of traveling to the warm Philippines in the spring at the soybean paste factory where he went to work during the bitter winter-as long as he survives the winter creating the soybean paste that he promised the boss. But the more he fights to live, the worse things become. The fermentation room quickly becomes musty as thousands of fermented soybean lumps spread black mold.
