Betrayed
During World War II, millions of Jews from all over Europe are taken away and killed in German concentration camps. When the German troops invade Norway, the Jews in Norway feel safe and protected. But anti-Semitism has no borders, and as the war in Europe gets worse, the situation changes drastically. All of a sudden, their radios are taken away and their passports are stamped with a big J. One day, all the men over 15 are arrested and taken to prison camps. Many of the women who were left behind are too scared to leave and are desperately waiting for their husbands and sons to come back home. On November 26, 1942, hundreds of Jews are picked up by the police in the middle of the night and taken to the dock in Oslo. Men, women, children, the sick, and the elderly who don't know what's going on and are scared are forced to get on the German cargo ship "SS DONAU," which is already there. The ship leaves with 532 Norwegian Jews on it: 302 men, 188 women, and 42 children. The ultimate station is Auschwitz.
