Escape from Sobibor
Throughout WWII, the death camp at Treblinka had an escape, causing the Commandant at a similar camp at Sobibor to vow (actually sabotage ) his camp would never go through the exact identical task. But those have been captives, the Jewish laborers that had been spared from the ovens, also knew they were on borrowed time and their only hope was to flee... the only question was just how to doit. On October 14, 1943, members of this camp resistance succeeded in killing eleven officers and many of Ukrainian guards. Of the 600 inmates at the camp, roughly 300 escaped, but most were and murdered. The escape forced the passing camp to close, hammering it and planting a forest.
