Galileo

Galileo, a tutor and theorist, is challenged by a new student. He uses new telescope technology to prove the heretical idea that the earth is not the center of the universe. But in a rigid society ruled by an uneasy alliance of aristocracy and clergy and already weakened by the Black Death and the Reformation, science is a threat and enlightenment is a luxury. Faced with death at the hands of the Inquisition or recanting to a hypocritical but all-powerful Papacy, Galileo must choose between his own life and his restless scientific curiosity, which he has given up family, friends, and money to pursue.
