Good Morning
A light hearted take on the continuing subject of the challenges of intergenerational relationships of director Yasujiro Ozu , Good Morning tells the story of 2 boys who stop speaking in protest after their parents refuse to obtain a television set. Ozu weaves an abundance of gags through a family portrait as rich as those of the films of his child protagonists. Shot in magnificent color and put at a suburb of Tokyo at which housewives gossip around the neighbors' fresh washer and also jobless husbands look for work like doortodoor salesmen, this enchanting comedy refashions Ozu's own hushed classic I Was Born, But... to softly satirize consumerism in postwar Japan.
