It Is No Dream: The Life Of Theodor Herzl
It Is No Dream: The Life of Theodor Herzl is the most recent film from Moriah Films. It looks at the life and times of the man who helped found the modern state of Israel, Theodor Herzl. The film, narrated by Academy Award winner Sir Ben Kingsley and starring Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz as Theodor Herzl, examines how Herzl, a well-known journalist and playwright, an assimilated, Budapest-born Jew who was horrified by the Dreyfus trial in Paris and the spread of anti-Semitism across Europe, took on the task of attempting to establish a Jewish homeland in Palestine against all odds. A global political movement was started and led by Herzl over the course of 8 years. In less than 50 years, Israel became a country called Israel. Following Herzl, the film shows how he meets with Kings, Prime Ministers, emissaries from all over the world (a Sultan, a Pope, and government ministers), and how he tries to build a Jewish country.
