Ivan the Terrible, Part I
A three-part biopic of Czar Ivan Grozny that was never finished because the producers didn't like how Sergei Eisenstein tried to use forbidden experimental filming techniques and how much it cost. This is Eisenstein's last film. The second part was finished but not released for a decade after Eisenstein died and the USSR government changed its mind about his work. The third part was only in the beginning stages of filming when it was stopped. Aristocracy and even his closest friends betray him in the first part of the book, which takes place during Ivan's early years as king. He wants to unite the people of Russia.
