Larceny
John Payne is a scumbag who tries to take advantage of people's grief and patriotism after the war. He tricks Joan Caulfied, a war widow, into giving up her savings for a memorial that doesn't exist. When Payne falls in love with the widow, he feels bad, but he doesn't count on his con-artist boss (Dan Duryea), who usually backs up his arguments with muscle and bullets.
