Mama's Boy
Dustin Lance Black goes back to the places where he grew up to explore his childhood roots, his gay identity, and his close relationship with his mother, who overcame childhood polio, abusive marriages, and Mormon dogma to become Black's emotional rock and, in the end, the inspiration for his activism. With a lot of personal photos and unscripted stories from Black's family, coworkers, and friends, this documentary embraces the personal to tell a universally hopeful story about the power of love and shared stories to bring people together and help them heal.
