Man of La Mancha
The Spanish Inquisition detained Miguel de Cervantes and his manservant in the sixteenth century. Cervantes was a poet, writer, and occasional performer. They are charged with providing inappropriate entertainment to the Inquisition. The other prisoners get together inside the massive dungeon where they have been imprisoned and stage a pretend trial against Cervantes and his manservant in order to either steal or burn his goods. Cervantes puts on an unconventional defense based on the Don Quixote story with the help of the other inmates and costumes, makeup, and a desperate attempt to safeguard a manuscript he is carrying.
