Mudhoney

In this narrative, Calef is traveling from Michigan to California and stops from Spooner, Missouri, at which Lute hires him for odd jobs. Calef becomes a part of the niece of Lute . However she is married to Sidney, a wife-beating drunk who expects to inherit his uncle-in-law's money. Sidney along with also an eccentric preacher plot against Calef, who finds it difficult to hide his growing affection for the wife of Sidney and his mysterious past.
