Perfumed Nightmare

In a voiceover, Tahimik talks about how people live in the village every day. His favorite thing about the Voice of America is when they talk about the space program. People who like Werner von Braun form a Werner von Braun fan club. When an American comes to an international conference that was never going to happen, he has his chance. The American wants him to come to Paris, where he can run his chewing-gum-ball machine business on the streets. On a trip to Germany, he makes friends and learns that progress in the developed world often gives up important things. Seeing footage of a summit meeting in Paris, he can't return to an idealized image of his past. He refuses to accept the terms of progress, resigning as head of the Werner von Braun fan club and saying that he will find his own way.
