Pocketful of Miracles
Director Frank Capra, tells damon Runyon's fairytale, sweet and funny. Boozy, brassy Apple Annie, a beggar with a basket of apples, is just as much as part of downtown New York as older Broadway itself. Bootlegger Dave the Dude is just a sucker on her apples -- he thinks they bring fortune to him. However, Dave and girlfriend Queenie Martin want far more than fortune when it turns out that Annie is in a jam and simply they could help: Annie's daughter Louise, who has lived her life in a Spanish convent, is visiting America with a Count and his own son. The kid of the count would like to marry. It's as much as Dave and Queenie and their cronies to turn Annie to a female and convince the fisherman and his son that they are hobnobbing with the elite of New York.
