Romance in Manhattan

Karel Novak is an incredibly naive Czech immigrant who is taken under the wing of streetwise New york city chorus girl Sylvia. With the help of lovable cop-on-the-beat Murphy, Sylvia conceals Karel from the migration authorities and also eventually falls for him. Along with Karel's illegal-alien status, the plot is made complex by a crooked lawyer as well as a team of well-meaning welfare workers who strive to position Sylvia's youngster bro Frank in a foster home.
