Sworn Brothers
In the compelling triad saga Sworn Brothers, superstar Andy Lau and Cheung Kwok Keung star as warring brothers who save their family from evil. Cheung (Cheung Kwok Keung), a Royal Hong Kong Police officer who has recently returned from Scotland Yard, is the sworn brother of Lau (Andy Lau), who is a rapidly rising enforcer with the triads. However, beneath his "bad" demeanor, Lau is the sworn brother of Cheung. Despite the fact that the two men stand on opposite sides of the law, they have a link that cannot be broken, not even by the passage of time, not even by their divergent political views. Is it possible for the brotherhood of these two decent men to rectify the wrongs that have been committed in the underworld? Sworn Brothers is a standout triad action-drama in a genre that already features a large number of films that are very similar to one another. The film stars Tung Piu (Jackie Chan's Police Story films) in a compelling role as a corrupt police officer, and it is loaded with many exciting action sequences. Sworn Brothers nails the action-drama sweet spot with its intense melodrama and the type of heightened emotions that are typical of many successful Hong Kong films from the eighties. It does so in a way that is both fun and violent!
