The Ballad of Narayama
In Kabuki style, the film tells the story of a mountain village at which the lack of food leads to some voluntary but socially-enforced policy in which family relations carry relatives that are 70-year-old to expire. Granny Orin is approaching 70, content to embrace her fate. Her son Tatsuhei cannot bear losing his mother as she enrolls his marriage. Her grandson Kesa, who is girl friend is pregnant, is selfishly pleased to see Orin expire. Around them, a family of thieves have been dealt with severely, and an elderly man, past 70, whose son has cast him out, scrounges for food. Will soul and Orin's adoring teach and ennoble her loved ones?
