The Charge of the Light Brigade
A history of the events that led to Britain joining the Crimean War against Russia, which resulted in the siege of Sevastopol and the fierce Battle of Balaclava on October 25, 1854. The battle ended with the heroic, but nearly disastrous, cavalry charge by the British Light Brigade against a Russian artillery battery in a small valley. The brigade was almost wiped out because of bad decisions and sloppy planning by the incompetent British.
