The Green Park
The Green Park Hotel on England's southern coast attracted waves of Jewish immigration for more than 40 years. When it opened, it was a European counterpart to the resorts in the Catskill Mountains, a place to see and be seen where the only thing better than its immaculate service was its almost limitless selection of gourmet kosher cuisine. For generations of young lovers, it was also a place where they first met their future wives, and often returned with their families years later. Recollections, photos, and home movies from former guests and employees paint a picture of a time when life was simpler, brighter, and more successful. Green Park is a more than just a time capsule of a historic hotel; it's also a sincere monument to the Anglo-Jewish community's cultural roots.
