The King
Tae-su, who was born into a household of limited means, comes to the realization that power is the most essential aspect of life and makes the decision to pursue a career as a prosecutor, which was the most visible representation of power in the 1990s. Tae-su ultimately achieves his dream of becoming a prosecutor after attending the most renowned law school and living through democratic resistance in Korea; nonetheless, his life is not significantly different from that of a salary man. He winds up becoming a member of an exclusive group of wealthy and influential prosecutors by complete happenstance. He is finally able to experience what it is like to live at the top of the social order; nevertheless, at the same time that he delights in the perks of power, he is exposed to the darker aspects of being in that position.
