The Phantom of Liberty
The title of this Spanish film, which is based on the Communist Manifesto, refers to short stories about the life of the director, Luis Buuel, who made it. From the 19th century through the 1970s these loosely connected and intersecting occurrences are presented as if they were random meetings. The film has a diverse cast, including a sick father and incompetent police officers, and briefly touches on topics such as execution, pedophilia, incest, and sex.
