The Racer

The first stages of the Tour de France are moved to Ireland in the summer of 1998. Dom Chabol (late 30s), a Belgian cyclist, has been one of the Tour's greatest "Domestiques" (support riders) for the past 20 years. It's a selfless job, setting the pace, blocking the wind, and supporting the team's sprinter to victory – winning isn't an option. Dom, on the other hand, secretly wishes to wear the yellow jersey one last time before his career is gone. Dom is abruptly dropped from the Team to which he has dedicated his life at the outset of what will almost certainly be his final Tour. Sonny, his best friend and team masseur, fails to reassure him about his prospects. However, a serendipitous encounter with Lynn, a young Irish doctor, softens the pain, and Dom begins to accept-and even love-civilian life. However, as he prepares to return home and confront his estranged sister, another teammate gets disqualified from the Tour, and Dom is forced to return to the saddle...
