The Reluctant Debutante
In London, Jimmy and Sheila Broadbent, we're glad to have you with us. Her name is Jane, and she's 17 years old. Her father and step-mother haven't met Jane before because he was married to an American. She has come to see them. During their visit, Sheila thinks about making Jane a debutante, which Jane doesn't like. Difficulties include Jane's ambivalence at being put on the marriage market, Mabel Claremont's aggressive efforts to acquire wealthy David Fenner for her debutante daughter Clarissa, and Jane's interest to David Parkson, an American drummer who plays in the orchestra at the coming-out dances.
