The Watermelon Woman
Cheryl, a young black lesbian, is trying to make a film about a black actress from the 1930s who was known for playing the stereotypical "mammy" roles that were relegated to black actresses during that time period. During the day, Cheryl works in a video store, and at night, she tries to make the film. The first feature film to ever be directed by an out and proud black lesbian was this one.
