The Wonderful Wizard of Oz: The True Story
This American narrative had been written in 1900 by L Frank Baum, a Chicago businessman, journalist, chicken breeder, actor, boutique operator, Hollywood movie manager and lifelong fan of most things. His life spanned an age of remarkable invention and achievement and a number of these developments helped to fuel the imagination of that this storyteller. His dream was to make the genuine fairy-tale that is American and participate, inspire and the narrative continues to fascinate tens of thousands of fans of all ages from all around the planet. This documentary explores how The Wonderful Wizard of Oz has come to symbolise the American Dream also includes previously unseen footage by the Baum family archives, still photographs and clips by the early Oz films, as well as interviews with relatives, literary experts and American historians as it tells the story of a single person's life in parallel to the growth of modern America.
