Toni

People who want to work in the quarries or farming come to Provence in the 1920s. Many mingle with the locals and establish permanent residences-as Toni, an Italian, has done with Marie, a Frenchwoman. Even a well-ordered life isn't safe from boredom, friendship, love, or hate. Toni gets caught in a web of increasingly passionate relationships. Then there's Fernand, who is Fernand's best friend, and Albert, his overbearing foreman. Sebastian is a steady Spanish peasant, but Gabi, Fernand's young rogue relative, also lives there. Marie and Josefa are Fernand's friends as well.
