People and animals live side by side in Asia's most beautiful National Parks, hidden from prying eyes. Asia's endangered environments, unlike those in North America and Europe, virtually often contain people as well as wildlife. This show examines the coexistence of humans and animals. Meet gentle Shinto people who have learned how to live in the shadow of an active volcano, a tribal man who cares for orphan elephants by day while wild elephants threaten his village every night, and see how the spirits of a tropical island off Borneo stopped a local Imam from cutting down the rainforest. Elephants from Asia, one-horned rhinoceroses, golden macaques from Guizhou province, and a host of other animals populate the continent of Asia, from the Indian flood plains to the granite peaks of China's sacred mountains.
