At the Movies
The films is a movie review tv program produced by Disney ABC Domestic Television in which two film critics shared their opinions of films. The program aired under various titles. Its hosts were Roger Ebert of the Chicago Suntimes and WLS TV and Gene Siskel of WBBM-TV and also the Chicago Tribune. Richard Roeper of those suntimes became Ebert's regular partner in 2000 after Siskel expired in 1999.
Ebert suspended his looks in 2006 together with various guest hosts, for treatment of thyroid gland. From April to August 2008, Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune cohosted. Starting on September 6, 2008, E! Entertainment Television film critic and author Ben Lyons and Sirius Satellite Radio host and former Cohost of current Turner Classic Movies host Ben Mankiewicz and this Young Turks shot over as hosts. About August 5, 2009, it had been announced that Michael Phillips would go back to the series and New York Times film critic A. O. Scott on September 5, 2009.
During its run as broadcasts by Siskel and Ebert, the show has been nominated seven times and for Outstanding Information Series, the nomination occurring in 1997. It had been well regarded for the"thumbs up/thumbs down" review summaries given throughout Siskel's and Ebert's tenures. The series aired in syndication from the United States and on CTV in Canada. The show aired on the cable network ReelzChannel throughout the week.
