Bottom is really a British anarchic sitcom written by and starring comic duo Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson as socially embarrassing, sexually inexperienced Richie Richard, and carefree alcoholic Eddie Hitler, 2 social outcasts living on the dole, trapped together in a daily grind in a squalid flat in Hammersmith, London. The series ran for three series broadcasting from 1991 - 1995, and was followed by five stage series tours throughout the uk between 2003 and 1993, and a feature picture guesthouse Paradiso. The series is known for violent comedy slapstick and its nihilistic humour.
Back in 2008, Bottom came in at number 45 in a questionnaire to determine"Britain's Best Sitcom" by the BBC. The series is still shown in the UK on Gold and Dave, and it has been dubbed in other languages. Back in Spain the series is referred to. The theme music was provided by The Bum Notes, a band that previously featured Edmondson, also will be now really a cover of"yesterday" by The Mar-Keys.
Plans were made for a BBC series featuring the Richie and Eddie characters from Bottom. Yet, this job had been cancelled that October before production as Edmondson explained that he wished to pursue other interests.
