Cosmos: A Personal Voyage is a thirteen-part TV series written by Carl Sagan, Ann Druyan, and Steven Soter. Sagan also presents the show. It was overseen by Adrian Malone, produced by David Kennard, Geoffrey Haines-Stiles, and Gregory Andorfer, and directed by the producers, David Oyster, Richard Wells, Tom Weidlinger, and others. From the genesis of life to our place in the universe, it covered a wide spectrum of topics. The series was first shown by the Public Broadcasting Service in1980. Until The Civil War, it was the most watched show on American public television. As of2009, it was still the most watched PBS series in the globe. Emmy and Peabody Award winners, it has been viewed by more than 500 million people around the world. The series was also accompanied by a book.
