Daniel Deronda
Daniel Deronda is a British television serial drama created by Andrew Davies from George Eliot's novel of the same name. The serial was directed by Tom Hooper and produced by Louis Marks, and was initially aired on BBC One in three parts from November 23 to December 7, 2002. Hugh Dancy played Daniel Deronda, Romola Garai played Gwendolen Harleth, Hugh Bonneville played Henleigh Grandcourt, and Jodhi May played Mirah Lapidoth in the series. WGBH Boston provided co-production funds. Originally, Louis Marks intended to make a film adaptation of the novel, but he abandoned the project after a protracted and failed casting process. It took another five years for the drama to air on television. From May through August, 11 weeks of filming took place on locations in England, Scotland, and Malta. Marks' final television project before his death in 2010 was the serial.
