Degrassi Junior High
Part of the Degrassi franchise, Degrassi Junior High aired on CBC in Canada from 1987 to 1989 as an adolescent drama. Several students at the made-up institution in question were the focus of this show. The series received praise for its sensitive and realistic portrayal of the difficulties teenagers face, including drug use, child abuse, teenage pregnancy, homosexuality, homophobia, racism, and divorce. The majority of the cast were amateurs, which gave the show a more genuine feel. Many of the actors that played in The Kids of Degrassi Street just a few short years earlier also appeared in this series. This includes Stacie Mistysyn, Neil Hope, Anais Granofsky, Sarah Charlesworth, and others. Degrassi Junior High is not an exact sequel to Degrassi High because the names of the characters and their family dynamics were altered. The show's eventual executive producer, Stephen Stohn, was the legal advisor for each episode. Vincent Massey Public School in Etobicoke, Ontario, was used for filming.
