Fawlty Towers
Fawlty Towers is a British sitcom that aired on BBC2 from 1975 until 1979. It was decided to do twelve episodes. John Cleese and his then-wife Connie Booth co-wrote the play, and both of them starred in it. Fawlty Towers, a fictional hotel in Torquay, on the "English Riviera," is the setting for the series. The stories revolve around tense, rude, and put-upon hotel owner Basil Fawlty, his dictatorial wife Sybil, a fairly normal chambermaid Polly, and hapless Spanish waiter Manuel, and their attempts to run the hotel in the face of ludicrous situations and an array of demanding and unusual visitors. Fawlty Towers was chosen the best British television series of all time in a list compiled by the British Film Institute in 2000 and voted on by industry professionals.
