An incident is mentioned around Japan. The case involves the Doizaki couple that hid her body and murdered their 15-year-old daughter. Housewife Toshiko Hagitani and Shigeko Maehata who works for a small editing organization visit one afternoon. Toshiko informs Shigeko that her 12-year-old son Hitoshi might have a unique potential to see different people's thoughts. She pulls out a picture.
