Jack of All Trades

Jack of All Trades was a syndicated half-hour action comedy television series that aired for two seasons in 2000. It constituted the Back2Back Action Hour with Cleopatra2525, and both shows were significant for being the first non-animated action series produced in the half-hour format in the United States since the 1970s. In the middle of its second season, the show was canceled. The show is set in the East Indies at the turn of the nineteenth century on the fictional French-controlled island of Pulau-Pulau. President Jefferson dispatched Jack Stiles, an American secret agent. He meets his British contact and love interest, English spy Emilia Rothschild, while he is there. They fight together to defeat Napoleon and other challenges to the United States. Jack appears to the public as Emilia's attaché, but when the situation demands, he morphs into The Daring Dragoon, a masked hero. Many running gags in the show included deliberate historical inaccuracies, Jack being responsible for many important historical events but receiving no credit, Emilia inventing a miraculous invention in an obvious deus ex machina, sexual puns and innuendos, and Jack and Emilia's ongoing romantic tension.
