Jack Roosevelt Robinson overcame baseball's color barrier to become one of America's most beloved figures. Robinson, a ferocious integrationist, utilized his tremendous reputation to speak out against the discrimination he witnessed on and off the field, angering fans, the press, and even teammates who had previously praised him for "turning the other cheek."
