My Super Sweet 16
In the My Super Sweet 16 reality series, which airs on MTV, teens who have wealthy parents and lavish coming-of-age parties tell their stories. Most of the teens featured on the show are from the United States, Canada, or the UK. The quinceaera, the sweet 16, and other birthdays, such as My Super Sweet 21 and My Super Swag 18, are all celebrated with parties. In 2005, the show made its debut on January 18. Hilary Duff sings the song "Sweet Sixteen" for the opening credits. A number of celebrity birthday celebrations have also been featured on the show in the past few years. Among the artists whose parties have been featured on the show include Bow Wow, Sean Kingston, Aly & AJ, Chris Brown, and Soulja Boy Tell Em. "Super Dulces16" and "Quiero mis quinces" were also produced in the UK and Spain, respectively, by MTV. Exiled, an MTV spinoff, premiered in 2008. Several parents of contestants on My Super Sweet 16 send their kids to remote areas to see if they can withstand the hard conditions. On October23,2009, MTV announced the premiere of a horror film based on the theme of the show, My Super Psycho Sweet16, which starred Julianna Guill.
