On October 12, 2008, Channel 4 broadcast the two-hour show in two parts. The show's title and general format are a parody of talent-based reality television shows. Britain's Got Talent, Pop Idol, The X Factor, celebrity versions of pre-existing shows, Jesus Christ Superstar, Soapstar Superstar, Strictly Come Dancing, and Dancing on Ice are all referenced in the show's title. In addition to being the title of the show, Britain's Got the Pop Factor is the name of a fictional series within the show, where Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly on Ice is the name of another fictional talent show, into which the winner of Britain's Got The Pop Factor gains automatic entry. After the credits, the show advertised its "sequel," Celebrity Fiddler on the Roof, which would air the following year. In the Jungle is a combination of the British reality show I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!, and the musical Fiddler on the Roof.
