Star Trek: The Animated Series
Star Trek: The Animated Series is an animated science fiction TV show set in the Star Trek universe after the events of Star Trek: The Original Series in the 1960s. The animated series was originally called Star Trek, but now most people call it this longer name to tell it apart from the original live-action Star Trek. The success of the original live-action series in syndication and fan demand for a Star Trek comeback led to The Animated Series, which ran from 1973 to 1974 and gave the Enterprise crew new adventures. Star Trek: The Motion Picture, a live-action movie, came next in 1979. The "TAS" series was the last time the original cast played the characters in a series of episodes until the "cartoon-like" graphics of the Star Trek: 25th Anniversary computer game in 1992 and its sequel, Star Trek: Judgment Rites, in1993. These games came out after the cast's last movie together, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, in 1991. The first Star Trek show to get an Emmy Award was TAS.
