The Great Penguin Rescue
The African penguin fights for its life... Michaela Strachan is dedicated to assisting them. Michaela, the newest member of the SANCCOB chick bolstering team, will investigate why the penguin population has dropped so drastically and what may be done to save them. The South African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB) annually rescues hundreds of penguin chicks whose parents are unable to feed them owing to unfavorable weather. Up to 500 orphaned chicks must be saved, cared for, taught survival skills, and ultimately released back into the wild over the course of six weeks.
